effects of silver nanoparticle (ag np) on oxidative stress biomarkers in rat
Authors
abstract
objective(s): nanotechnology and nanoparticles are increasingly recognized for their potential applications in aerospace engineering, nanoelectronics, and environmental remediation, medicine and consumer products. more importantly is the potential for the application of silver nanoparticles (ag nps) in the treatment of diseases that require maintenance of circulating drug concentration or targeting of specific cells or organs the aim of this study was to investigate the possible protective role of ag np antioxidative biomarkers in rats. ag nps are used to investigate the potential risks for the environment and health. materials and methods: rats received ag np, 5, 50, 250 and 500 mg/kg/day ip. after two week of treatment, the activity of enzymatic scavengers such as glutathione peroxidase (gpx), superoxide dismutase (sod) and total antioxidant capacity (tac) of blood samples were measured. results:ag np in 5, 50, 250 and 500 mg/kg reduced activities of cat, sod and increased tac in plasma. conclusion:in this study, ag np with 500mg/kg induced activities of cat, sod and decreased tac. it is concluded that antioxidative properties of ag np is dose dependent.

full textEffects of silver nanoparticle (Ag NP)on oxidative stress, liver function in rat: hepatotoxic or hepatoprotective?
*Corresponding Author Email: [email protected] Tel/Fax: +98 811 8380031 Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) have been widely used as new potent antimicrobial agents in cosmetic and hygienic products. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible protective role of Ag NP antioxidative biomarkers in rat liver. Rats received Ag NP, 5, 50, 250 and 500 mg/kg/day IP. After two week of...
full textEffects of silver nanoparticle on the developing liver of rat pups after maternal exposure
Abstract The extensive application of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) has been increased due to their antimicrobial properties, however numerous concerns has been arisen about their toxicity potential. Since nanoparticles can cross through the placenta and accumulate in the embryonic organs especially liver, in this study, developmental hepatotoxicity of AgNPs was investigated. Pregnant rats were...

full textEvaluation the effect of silver nanoparticles on oxidative stress biomarkers in blood serum and liver and kidney tissues
Objective(s): Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) are one of the most widely used nanomaterials recently. Despite the wide application of nanomaterials, there is limited information concerning their impact on human health and the environment. This study aimed to find the effects of Ag-NPs (40 nm) on blood serum, liver and kidney tissues of homing pigeons (Columbia livia).Materials and Methods: Columb...
full textEffects of inhaled manganese on biomarkers of oxidative stress in the rat brain.
Manganese (Mn) is a ubiquitous and essential element that can be toxic at high doses. In individuals exposed to high levels of this metal, Mn can accumulate in various brain regions, leading to neurotoxicity. In particular, Mn accumulation in the mid-brain structures, such as the globus pallidus and striatum, can lead to a Parkinson's-like movement disorder known as manganism. While the mechani...
